Hello, hello! Last weekend, my sister Rachel and her dog Skittles came to visit me in Charlotte. We had a really nice time, and one of the highlights was trying some new beer & food in Charlotte's Noda neighborhood.
Since there are some places that dogs just can't go, little Skittles had to stay home for the evening.
We started our evening in NoDa at the NoDa Brewing Company
. The tasting room was fairly busy when we got there, but there were definitely still open seats for us to sit and enjoy our beer. We didn't get food since we wanted to eat dinner elsewhere, but NoDa Brewing had a food truck on site in case anyone wanted to get food. Great idea!
You guys know that I love really dark beer, so I knew that I had to order the CocoLoco Porter. It was delicious.
After drinks, we drove to Cabo Fish Taco
for dinner. I heard about this place because it was a stop on the show Diner's Drive-Ins and Dives
that airs on Food Network. I always love a good fish taco, and Cabo Fish Taco did not disappoint. We started the meal with chips and salsa:
The salsa was good- but it wasn't like traditional salsa. It was more like a corn & tomato succotash. I didn't eat very much of it since I wanted to save plenty of room for my tacos.
They have other things on the menu besides tacos, but I couldn't resist order a couple fish tacos. I got one BBQ Mahi taco, and one Grilled Salmon Taco. Both were really good, but my favorite was the BBQ Mahi. The BBQ sauce just added another layer of deliciousness.
On the side, Rachel and I both ordered the avocado pasta salad. It was different than what I thought it would be, but it ended up being pretty good! I was expecting more chunks of avocado & tomato with some pasta in it, but it ended up being really creamy with a spicy kick.
I would definitely recommend both NoDa Brewing and Cabo Fish Taco to anyone!
