It's no secret that my husband loves BBQ. When we lived in Pennsylvania, he was obsessed with Momo's BBQ, and we also made visits to Shakedown BBQ and Smoke BBQ. Now that we are in Charlotte, we have already made several visits to Queen City Q. So, you can imagine how strange it is that we visited City Smoke over the weekend, and neither of us ordered BBQ. Not surprising, however, is that I ordered a really dark beer. The Duck Rabbit Milk Stout - one of my favorites. Delicious as always. I think that Matt secretly wanted to visit City Smoke because they have an appetizer named the "Scooby Snack." Ham and sausage in little biscuits. I tried a few bites and it was decent - but I thought a little overpriced for the amount of food that you get. I was pleasantly surprised that City Smoke had the option to get three side dishes as a meal. Queen City Q also has this option, and it usually works out great for me. You guys know that as a flexitarian I do eat a little meat, but chowing down on a huge hunk of chicken or pork isn't particularly appealing. So collard greens, baked beans, french fries & cornbread made a nice dinner for this girl. Matt went with the fried chicken. I know - completely shocking that he passed up the BBQ. He said the chicken was delicious, but not the best he's ever had. His favorite part of the dinner was the mac and cheese. Overall a successful meal! This place is in a great location in the Bank of American building in Uptown Charlotte- so it's perfect if you are in the mood for a casual option. We may have to go back so Matt can try the BBQ.
