March Meal Plan & Dog Bar Fun

Well, it's been 3 months and I'm still struggling to lose that 6 pounds that I set out to lose at the first of the year.  I am 50% there, which is definitely not the progress I was hoping to make by this point.  Next week, the "Biggest Loser" contest at my office is officially ending, but that does not mean I am stopping my efforts.  After all, my motto of It's Not a Diet, It's a Lifestyle still rings true.

Like always, I had a mix of healthy and unhealthy this week.  Here is last week's plan for dinners:

Sunday:       Easy Chicken Enchiladas (recipe coming soon!)

Monday:      Veggie Fried Rice

Tuesday:      Out to dinner at Cabo Fish Taco

Wednesday: Peanut Butter Sammy & post-yoga smoothie

Thursday:     Bowl of cereal before The Dog Bar

Friday:         Trader Joe's Thai Vegetable Gyoza with roasted broccoli, tomatoes, & green onion

The vegetable dumplings were definitely one of the highlights of the week.  I needed something easy, and buying a bag of frozen dumplings from TJ's and adding some veggies really did the trick.  To prepare the dumplings I steamed them in a bit of water for about 8-10 minutes to soften then up, then sauteed them in a little canola oil to add a crispy texture.  Delicious!

You can see on my meal plan that I just grabbed a bowl of cereal on Thursday - that's because Sadie and I were off to The Dog Bar!  The Dog Bar is just what is sounds like; a local bar here in Charlotte where you can bring your furry friend.

We went to the Dog Bar as part of The Charlotte Social's (local blogger group) March meet-up.  Sadie didn't know what to think of the bar at first.  If you have met Sadie in person, you know that she can really go either way when it comes to social situations.  She is either a shy little girl, or she is super aggressive and barks at everyone & everything.  Matt & I call her "Jeckyl and Hyde."  The good news is that she was VERY well behaved on Thursday night.  I was so proud of her!

At one point she seemed a little overwhelmed because there were a lot of big dogs running around, so I put her on the table.  She seemed to like this - she could check everything out without getting caught in the hustle.  I managed to snap a photo of Sadie eyeing up a big dog behind her.  Ha!

Looking back at my week, there are definitely improvements I could have made in my diet to encourage weight loss.  I had an adult beverage 3 out of the 6 days (whoops!), and my random dinners on Wednesday and Thursday left no room for veggies.  Looking forward to a healthier week ahead!
