Before we went to the rescue- Matt specifically said- "I don't want to get a beagle." The reason he said that is because my sister has a rescued beagle as well- Skittles- so we knew the breed characteristics that can sometimes be hard to deal with. Constantly pulling on the leash on walks, always begging for food... beagles are a silly bunch, but SO adorable. Here are Skittles and Sadie together:
Anyway- the point of that story is that I have a special place in my heart for shelter dogs- especially beagles. So when I heard about the Woof Wag Play Box and their Shares for Shelter program, I knew I immediately had to do it. Here's the rundown:
Woof Wag Play Box is a company that packages up doggy treats, toys, and other fun dog items, and ships a box of the goodies to your home. In the Shares for Shelter program, you buy a Woof Wag Play Box for your own dog, and the company also sends a box to a shelter dog. Isn't that so cute?? I absolutely love it.
Guess who else loved it?
The other reason I'm obsessed with this idea is that Woof Wag Play Box donates 5% of profits to animal charities. The group that got the 5% when I ordered was the Beagle Freedom Project- an agency that works to free beagles who are living in research laboratories undergoing animal experimentation. I won't go into the gory details here, but you guys will seriously not believe how these lab dogs are treated. So let's just say I'm really happy to do my small part to help this group.
So- next blog post is back to food (I promise!) but you guys know how much I love my dog, and I wanted to share this with everyone in case you want to get a fun gift box for your dog too. :)
