My strategy, as always, was to to make the healthiest choices possible, but still including wiggle room to have a few treats. On Friday night, we enjoyed a casual dinner at Jason's Deli. I ordered half a Zucchini Grillini sandwich, which is a yummy combo of veggies, cheese, & hummus. On the side, I had a cup of Southwest Chicken Chili, and some fruit.
I started off my meal with a Mexicali Stout from Birdsong Brewing. Our server tried to recommend some sort of seasonal Blue Moon variety, but I took one look at it and knew it wouldn't be dark enough for me. This Mexicali Stout though- delicious.
Typically when I am hosting guests, I make sure to prepare at least a couple of meals at home. It's less expensive, and I sort of miss the opportunity to cook at home and have someone else besides just me help eat the food. With the empty fridge situation though, we did the next best thing we could think of- stop at Whole Foods and pick up something to eat for dinner. It ended up working out fine, nobody was super hungry after the big Queen City Q lunch. I picked up some vegetable potstickers, and only ended up eating four of them. I'll plan on having the rest for dinner tonight.
